On 20.10.2021 at 16:02 (CEST) a failure of the fiber optic line to Frankfurt am Main (FRA) was detected. All connections via this line were interrupted for a short time until an automatic rerouting via Amsterdam (AMS) took place.
Unfortunately, due to a temporary anti-DDoS special solution for some specific customers, the prefix 45.13.227.0/24 was announced to Voxility exclusively in Frankfurt. Until the manual changeover at 16:20 (CEST) this prefix was unfortunately not reachable. We apologize to all customers for the inconvenience.
Currently everything is running transparently via Amsterdam (AMS). The situation is still being monitored and the data center is in contact with the provider of the fiber optic line to find out the reasons for the outage as well as to get an ETA until reactivation. Any updates will be posted here.
As of 23:57 (CEST), the fiber optic line is functional again. Everything is running as usual again.
Even though there were no noticeable impairments due to the transparent rerouting via Amsterdam (AMS), we would like to thank everyone for their understanding.
Splicing work is currently being carried out.
The ETR (Estimated Time of Resolution) has been advanced to 01:30 (CEST).
The problem is a fiber cut in the Landgraaf / Heerlen region caused by a third party. The provider of the fiber optic line is currently working at full speed to repair the cable. The provider explained that "this damage was even more difficult to find because it runs through a controlled borehole under a road."
The last update from 20:00 (CEST) stated that a new tube is currently being laid, into which the new cable will be placed.
In addition, the provider has now provided an ETR (Estimated Time of Resolution). The provider expects the fiber optic line to be fully operational again at 04:00 (CEST).
The datacenter received the information that there is a fibercut. Updates will be posted here as soon as they are available.
