Network upstream outage Donnerstag 1st Juni 2023 18:41:00

Today at 18:41 there was an outage of our BGP sessions with the Skylink router. This outage seems to be related to a bug in the active JunOS version of the Skylink router. This caused brief interruptions in traffic either coming in or going out via Skylink.

We routed all traffic via other upstream providers shortly after and are still monitoring the situation. So far, BGP sessions with Skylink are stable again, but we will keep the current routing setup active for tonight to avoid problems during primetime.

We will keep this entry up to date and announce further information here.

Skylink has successfully completed necessary maintenance on the router. We re-routed all traffic prior to the maintenance and have now re-routed it via the usual paths. This incident is now closed.

In the meantime, we can say with confidence that the problems with the upstream router will no longer occur for the time being and have re-routed parts of the traffic via the usual paths. Tomorrow morning, Skylink will perform a firmware update of the router. Although this will happen without significant downtime, we will transparently re-route all traffic in advance so that there will be no downtime at all.

We thank you for your understanding and will continue to provide information here.
